A drunk woman threw a mop at a barmaid after being refused service – then told police her arrest was “homophobic”.

Raging Carole Millett, 43, was told she couldn’t have any more alcohol at the Rohaan Cafe Bar in Dyce after she’d downed drinks for around five hours on May 19 this year.

Millett then became angry and shouted, “Who do you think you are?” before grabbing a mop and throwing it at the woman, who was the bar’s supervisor.

But when she was arrested by police, Millett told officers that what they were doing to her was “homophobic”.

At Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Millet also admitted charges of striking her then-girlfriend and threatening to “strangle” her partner’s sister.

The drunk was rejected at the bar

Fiscal depute Ryan Diamond told the court that Millett was a regular at the Rohaan Cafe Bar, which she visited on the evening of May 19 this year.

“The accused was present at the locus from about 5pm that night,” he said.

“At about 10pm, the accused was observed to be intoxicated and when she tried to order another alcoholic drink, she was refused by the bar supervisor.

“The accused then shouted, “Who do you think you are?”

“She was told she wouldn’t be sold any more alcohol, to which she again replied: “Who do you think you are, you fat f****** b****”?

Millett then grabbed a mop that the woman was holding and threw it at her.

As staff contacted the police, Millett walked out of the bar but was soon found by officers.

When she was cautioned and charged, Millett described the arrest as “homophobic”.

Millett also assaulted her girlfriend

The court also heard about a separate incident in which Millett assaulted her girlfriend and then threatened the woman’s sister, who had tried to help Millett’s partner.

Mr Diamond said that, on August 13 this year, Millett’s then-girlfriend returned home to find she had been consuming alcohol.

“An argument ensued at around 6.30pm, whereupon the accused came over to where the complainer was sitting and punched her to the left side of her face,” he said.

Millett’s partner contacted her sister, who came to the property to take her to a friend’s house, and another argument began between Millett and the sister.

Later that night, the woman received a Facebook message from Millett that stated: “If you ever walk into my house again, I will strangle you. Who do you think you are, you c***?”

Millett pleaded guilty to one charge of assault and a second charge of sending an offensive or menacing message in which she made threats of violence.

She admitted an additional charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and throwing a mop at a member of the bar staff.

‘She is extremely sorry’

Defence agent Lisa Reilly said that her client had a “turbulent life at the time” of the offences.

“Ms Millett accepts full responsibility for her actions here,” she added. “She has struggled with her mental health and there was a lot going on in her life at this time.

“She is extremely sorry for her behaviour.”

Sheriff Morag McLaughlin sentenced Millett, of Wellheads Avenue in Aberdeen, to a community payback order with 12 months of supervision.

She also ordered Millett to pay a fine of £350.
