An Argyll man was jailed for six months yesterday for shouting at his partner and breaking a bail condition not to see her.
Thomas Barr, of 13 Meadow Road, Dunbeg, was in a relationship with 38-year-old Gemma Durley, Oban Sheriff Court heard yesterday.
Following a trial, the 55-year-old was convicted of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause other people fear or alarm, by shouting at Ms Durley.
The incident took place at 6 MacCallum Court, Dunbeg, the home of Barr’s friend Donald McCuish, on May 8.
Ms Durley said she had left Barr’s house to go there after they had a disagreement.
A police statement in which she claimed he called her offensive names was read out to her.
But she said in court: “I wasn’t in my right mind when I gave my statement. He only raised his voice. He didn’t say those things, I was just imagining it in my head.”
Giving evidence, Barr said he only shouted to be let into the house, and he thought she was joking when she said she was calling the police.
He was sentenced for breaking a bail condition not to be in her company by sitting in Mr McCuish’s house with her on July 5.
