Mountain rescue teams are now warning to the dangers of adverse weather conditions and being ill prepared when hill walking.
It comes after two people where rescued on the Cairngorm plateau following a failed attempt to ascend Ben Macdui, the UK’s second highest peak, at the weekend.
Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) intercepted the walkers wearing light gym clothing, with no map, compass or torch when training on the mountain side.

They were “no match for the early snow, rising wind and gathering darkness.
“Luckily for them, the rapid availability of the team, not yet home from training, and a good location via their phone meant that they were found and escorted to safety quickly,” said a Cairngorm MRT Facebook post.
