More than 50 road traffic offences including dangerous driving and using a mobile phone have been detected by police during dedicated patrols along a scenic coastal route.
The Highland and Islands road policing unit have detected 55 road traffic offences on the North Coast 500 route in the past two weekends.
These offences included dangerous driving, speeding, using a mobile phone, load security, passengers being carried dangerously and dangerous condition offences.
Road Policing Inspector Donnie Mackinnon said: “These proactive patrols highlight our commitment to improving road safety across the Highlands and will hopefully reassure our communities that we are both listening and responding to their concerns.
“Through Operation Cedar, we aim to reduce casualties and influence driver behaviour and we will continue to address poor driving standards and poor decision making by robustly enforcing appropriate legislation.”
