Former Scottish Natural Heritage chairman Andrew Thin has been made an OBE for his services to the environment and rural affairs.
He held the post from 2006 to April this year and is a previous chairman of the Cairngorms National Park Authority.
Mr Thin, 55, of Munlochy on the Black Isle, was succeeded at SNH by former Highland Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Ross.
Reflecting on the married father of two’s time at the quango, Environment Minister Paul Wheelhouse said he made a “much valued contribution”.
“He has successfully led a process of significant transformation within the organisation over the past seven-and-a-half years amidst a challenging time for public sector finances and he is widely respected by stakeholders.”
