Police searching for a missing hillwalker in Glencoe have received two walking poles, discovered in the area Robin Garton is believed to have gone missing.

Mr Garton, 69, was last seen on the morning of Friday, September 25, setting off for a walk in the area.

A major search was launched but no sign has been found of the hillwalker, who is from Devizes in Wiltshire.

Police in Lochaber are now appealing for information following the recovery of the poles in the Aonach Eagach Ridge area of Glencoe

The poles are described as Lecki telescopic trekking/walking poles in a black and gold colour.

The poles were photographed recently by a walker who, aware of ongoing activity to trace Mr Garton, subsequently provided the images to the local mountain rescue team,

Meanwhile, police are appealing to anyone who may have left or lost poles in the area between Meall Dearg and Caolasnacon (on the Aonach Eagach Ridge) to make contact on 101.
