A man who was caught driving on an Argyll road despite being banned for life has been warned that he faces jail.
Gordon Comrie, 64, pleaded guilty to driving on the A85 Oban to Tyndrum road near the Glen Orchy junction while disqualified on February 21.
He appeared at Oban Sheriff Court yesterday where Sheriff Ruth Anderson told him: “With your record you know that I must be looking at a custodial sentence here. This is the final straw in a long and varying record.
“I will call for a report. You have been in custody before but it was a long time ago. I want to know what your current circumstances are.”
Fiscal Eoin McGinty said: “Police received information that the accused, who was residing in Loch Awe village at the time, was regularly using a blue Skoda despite the fact that he was a disqualified driver.
“There was a note on the police system to keep a look out for that vehicle.
“At 11.50am on Tuesday February 21 police officers were driving through Dalmally when they saw saw the Skoda being driven in the opposite direction. Aware that there was a look out for the vehicle police turned around and signalled for it to stop, which it did.
“Police checks uncovered that he was disqualified from driving for life.”
Comrie, of Woodhill, Blairgowrie, will be sentenced on March 28.
