A 28-year-old father of two who became irritated by excessive noise coming from the upstairs flat was fined £200 yesterday for shouting and swearing at the occupants.
Damian Mitchell of Harbour Court, Thornbush Road, Inverness admitted behaving in a threatening manner on March 4 this year.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told Mitchell confronted a 15-year-old boy after knocking on the flat door.
Fiscal depute Laura Ryan added: “He had a hammer in his hand and banged it on a railing.”
Defence agent Rory Gowans said that there had been no further difficulties since the incident. “They are back on speaking terms.”
Sheriff Mark Stewart told Mitchell: “You have previous convictions for breach of the peace and carrying a weapon, albeit some time ago.
“But the hammer was taken to this door in anticipation that there may be a confrontation.”
