A 26-year-old drayman was fined £720 and banned from driving for 22 months after admitting driving while more than three times the legal alcohol limit on the A9 earlier this year.
Sean Pierce, of 60 Diriebught Road, Inverness was stopped by police who saw him at the wheel of a damaged car near Tomatin in the early hours of June 23.
His counsel, solicitor advocate Shahid Latif, said his client had been asked to drive a friend to Aviemore to collect some belongings.
“Against his better judgment, he yielded to the request,” Mr Latif added.
