A Rosemarkie van driver who knocked down a jogger while under the influence of drugs has been fined and banned from the roads.
Stephen Bowes had taken valium before getting into his works van and driving down Ness Road, in Fortress, a popular jogging spot.
The 32-year-old, of 19 Bridge Street, struck a man wearing a head band, who was taken to hospital suffering concussion and a small cut to his head.
Yesterday, at Inverness Sheriff Court, he admitted driving while under the influence of a drug on November 24 last year.
He was fined £600 and banned from driving for two years.
A driver stopped for having no insurance found himself in more trouble after police discovered a lock-knife in his vehicle.
Walter Eyre was stopped by police in Great North Road, Muir of Ord, as he headed to the shops with his son on September 26 last year.
But when police spoke to the 48-year-old, they spotted a three-inch bladed knife in the central console of the car.
Fiscal depute Laura Ryan said Eyre, of Flat 3, Ordale, Great North Road, had told officers he used the knife for fishing.
Yesterday, he admitted driving without insurance and having the knife without lawful authority when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Solicitor Patrick O’Dea said the offences were the result of an oversight and he insured it the following day.
Sheriff Margaret Neilson fined him a total of £600 and endorsed his licence with six penalty points.
