A drug dealer has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after his bid to flood an island community with cannabis was thwarted by police.
Stuart Duncan travelled to the Central Belt to buy cannabis resin “in bulk” to sell in Shetland.
However he was caught at Aberdeen Railway Station on November 30 last year, and later admitted his involvement in the supply of drugs at the city’s sheriff court.
Yesterday, his defence solicitor Christopher Maitland told the court that Duncan had intended to keep some of the substances for himself for medical reasons, but was fully accepting of his guilt.
The 39-year-old, of Cameron House Avenue in Edinburgh, was ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work within eight months.
He will also be under the supervision of social workers for the next year.
