A Moray paedophile jailed for filming himself abusing a baby is facing a further prison sentence after he admitted taking a video of another infant and sharing it with fellow perverts through Whatsapp.

Ryan Simpson was jailed in March last year but remained under strict police supervision following his release.

In August last year that saw the 31-year-old, of Elgin, forced to attended at his local police in order to inform them of a change of address.

While there, officers used the terms of his sex offenders registration to seize and check his mobile phone.

They discovered a number of indecent images and videos of children, including one video of an infant below the age of one.

He was also found to have shared a video showing a naked baby on August 3 last year.

The stash was created between October 2015 and August the following year.

Simpson appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday where some details of the images were related to Sheriff George Aitken.

Fiscal depute Alex Swain said: “There were 38 category A images (the most serious) together with 46 category B and 10 category C images.

“There were three category A videos and one B category video.”

Sheriff George Aitken deferred sentence in order to obtain reports.

He said: “Be under no illusions these are very serious matters.

“There is at the very least a possibility that a substantial custodial sentence will be imposed.”

Simpson, of Meadows Crescent in Elgin, previously served a sentence of 16 months imprisonment for taking a video of him sexually assaulting a screaming baby.

He sent the depraved video to his boyfriend and boasted he would have gone further if he had not been scared of getting caught.
