MSP Richard Lochhead meets Portgordon Harbour Group to discuss harbour vision.

Representatives from Crown Estate Scotland have agreed to meet with members of the community to push forward with the Portgordon Harbour vision.

The town’s harbour is currently owned and managed by Crown Estate Scotland, who have started work with the Portgordon Harbour Group with a view to community ownership through using a Development Trust.

MSP Richard Lochhead met with the community group last week to discuss the vision.

Mr Lochhead  said: “I commend the community and everyone involved in the Portgordon Community Harbour Group for their efforts and leadership to help improve the village and breathe new vitality into the harbour area.

“Portgordon attracts many tourists, especially to the harbour and along the Speyside Way and there is a real drive to improve facilities for visitors and locals alike.

“The fact that there is still a real drive from both the community and Crown Estate Scotland to keep up momentum despite the current pandemic restrictions shows how important this project is for everyone involved.

“I am pleased that Crown Estate Scotland have very quickly agreed to a meeting with the community and I am hopeful that Highlands and Islands Enterprise will also be involved, given their positivity about the project.”
