Moray youngsters are being urged to get a head start on festive spirit to be in with a chance of putting their artistic name up in lights this Christmas.
Elgin Benevolent Trust and Elgin Business Improvement District (Bid) are inviting young people across the region, up to the age of 18, to draw and submit their best winter or Christmas picture for the Illuminated Winter Art competition.
The age categories are 5 years and under, 6-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-14 years and 15-18 years – with the winning entry from each category being unveiled and projected in Elgin town centre on Wednesday, November 12 at 6.30pm.
Entries can be submitted individually or as a group, must be hand drawn, have a “winter theme”, and are to be submitted on paper no larger than A3 along with the applicant’s name, age, and contact phone number.
A spokeswoman for Elgin Bid said: “The Benevolent Trust and Elgin BID are jointly responsible for the Elgin City Centre Christmas Lights, and we are currently making plans to renew them in 2015, by introducing a new exciting and more environmentally friendly lighting scheme.
“To celebrate, we have decided to hold a Winter Art Competition and are asking young people to draw a picture with a winter theme and submit it to our competition.”
The competition closes at 5.00pm on Friday, October 31, and winning entries must be submitted to : Gill Neill Manager, City of Elgin BID Ltd, 13 Harrow Inn Close, Elgin, IV30 1BP
