A Buckie woman threatened to burn down her home and kill her neighbours after a housing association refused to move her to a larger property.
Jane McKay claims she “exploded” with rage after she and her Asian partner were subjected to racist comments from people they live near.
The 44-year-old had hoped the Langstane Housing Association would relocate her to a different property in the town.
But when she learned her application had been refused, she unleashed a torrent of “menacing” abuse towards one of the company’s employees.
Fiscal David Morton told Elgin Sheriff Court that McKay called the housing association’s Martin MacLean on December 8 last year after receiving the news.
Mr Morton added: “She took great exception to that, and left a ranty voicemail message indicating that if she was not moved from her current property she would set it on fire.
“When Mr MacLean called her back, the accused repeated the same threat.”
McKay, who now lives on Maver Lane in Buckie, was resident at Netherha Road when the incident took place.
She admitted sending Mr MacLean a voice recorded message and later telephoning him with “grossly offensive” remarks of a “menacing character”.
Court papers state that she threatened to set fire to her property and “injure and kill” her neighbours.
McKay’s solicitor, Stephen Carty, said: “Certain people who lived close to my client made racist comments towards her because her partner is Asian.
“That’s why she was asking to move, and she simply exploded when she learned that wasn’t happening.”
Sheriff Chris Dickson deferred sentence on McKay for nine months, during which time she is to be of good behaviour.
