A north-east woman has handed over a petition with over 60 names to the local authority in a bid to have the speed limit slashed in her tiny Buchan village.
Patricia McKenzie wants the speed limit on Inverallochy’s Allochy Road reduced by 10mph to 20mph “before someone gets killed”.
Ms McKenzie, who lives in the village, started her campaign after a dog was hit by a car on the road.
“The speed they go up and down that road is ridiculous,” she said.
“It’s only a matter of time before someone gets killed or knocked down.”
She handed the petition to local councillor Charles Buchan this week. It had been signed by 65 other residents.
Mr Buchan said he was aware of speeding being a problem on the road.
Philip McKay, Aberdeenshire Council’s head of roads and landscape services, added: “As part of an ongoing traffic review across Banff and Buchan, we are conisdering the implementation of a mandatory 20mph speed limit throughout the village of Inverallochy.”
