A schoolboy was recovering tonight after being rescued from rocks on the edge of a north-east town.
The 15-year-old got stuck when he clambered onto the craggy shoreline at Broadsea, on the northern edge of Fraserburgh.
Emergency services were called to the coastal spot just after 2.30am this morning.
The town’s lifeboat crew was called out by police just before 3am, when it looked like the youngster wasn’t going to be able to get back to land on his own.
However, police were able to pull him to safety over the sea wall near the Seaview Car Dismantlers yard.
The lifeboat crew was then stood down.
A police spokeswoman said the young boy, who is believed to be originally from eastern Europe, was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital as a precaution, but was not badly hurt.
Last week, the local RNLI team were shouted out when three people, including a child, were swept out to sea off the coast of New Aberdour.
The lifeboat was able to reach the stricken vessel and bring it back to shore.
