One of Disney’s best loved characters has been banned from a Polish playground and branded a “hermaphrodite” by a councillor.
AA Milne’s lovable bear was suggested as the face of a play park in Tuszyn at a council meeting, however, the suggestion was shot down with concerns raised over the bear’s sexuality and dress sense.
The meeting was recorded and leaked to local press, according to the Croatian Times.
Councillor Hanna Jachimska criticises Winnie the Pooh author AA Milne, while one unnamed councillor argues that “It doesn’t wear underpants because it doesn’t have a sex.
“This is very disturbing but can you imagine! The author was over 60 and cut (Pooh’s) testicles off with a razor blade because he had a problem with his identity.”
Another councillor referred to Pooh as a “hermaphrodite” while Ryszard Cichy added: “The problem with that bear is it doesn’t have a complete wardrobe.”
“It is half naked which is wholly inappropriate for children. (Poland’s fictional bear) is dressed from head to toe, unlike Pooh who is only dressed from the waist up.”
