As always, there is plenty of transfer news kicking about today.
As always, Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for a small, technically gifted midfielder. Because sometimes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Özil, Alexis Sánchez, Serge Gnabry and Theo Walcott just aren’t quite enough.
As always Chelsea are looking to sign a strong powerful midfielder. Because having the league’s standout central midfielder pairing of Nemanja Matić and Cesc Fàbregas sometimes just isn’t enough.
But unlike normal, it looks like Liverpool are trying to sign strikers who can score goals. Because let’s be honest, Fabio Borini, Mario Balotelli and Ricky Lambert are not enough.
Anyway, here are today’s top transfer rumours.
Isco
Spanish news outlet COPE.es suggest that Arsenal are preparing a bid for Real Madrid playmaker Isco.
The Spanish midfielder has been unable to tie down a consistent first-time place following the arrival of James Rodriguez last summer.
It is believed the midfielder would cost around £32.5million.
Giannelli Imbula
Reports suggest English Premier League champions elect Chelsea are looking to strengthen their midfield with the signing of midfielder Giannelli Imbula from Marseille.
The Sun believe Mourinho is keen on signing the French under-21 international box-to-box midfielder who would cost £20million.
Javier Hernández
Southampton looked like they may have moved a step closer to signing Manchester United’s Javier Hernández after Louis van Gaal suggested he still intends to the striker, despite his recent goals for Real Madrid.
Hernández scored the winner in the Champions League quarter-final against Atlético Madrid last week and netted a double at the weekend against Celta Vigo but the United boss seems adamant he won’t be changing his mind on the Little Pea.
Van Gaal said: “I gave him a chance and then I said the same thing as I did to Danny Welbeck.
“When you are a substitute it’s no good. And I won’t change over that. So if you score a goal you are suddenly different? I don’t think so.”
Madrid are not believed to be looking to turn his current loan into a permanent transfer but Southampton are keen to secure his services in a £7.5m move.
Christian Benteke and Danny Ings
According to the Daily Telegraph, Liverpool are looking to create a new strikeforce next season with the signings of Christian Benteke and Danny Ings.
Benteke could cost the Reds over £30 million, however, Ings’ contract expires at the end of the season, paving the way for a cut price deal.
Matt Philips
Scotland international Matt Philips is a wanted man, according to the Daily Mirror, with both West Brom and Southampton chasing the winger.
West Brom originally tried to sign the QPR man in January but it is believed both the Baggies and the Saints will bid for the former Blackpool man’s services in the summer, with a
Jason Holt
Another Scotsman, Jason Holt, is attracting a fair bit of interest south of the border, according to the Sheffield Star.
Holt is currently on loan at Sheffield United from Hearts and the Blades have the option to turn the loan into a permanent deal, however after scoring five goals in a month, the Scotland under-21 international is now attracting interest from a number of English Championship clubs.
Patrick Roberts
According to the Express, Manchester United are leading the race to sign Fulham’s highly-rated Patrick Roberts who is also being monitored by Arsenal and Liverpool.
Fulham are believed to value the 18-year-old at £10million following an impressive breakthrough season.
