Europa League draw: Aberdeen to face KF Shkëndija

Aberdeen have been drawn against KF Shkëndija of Macedonia in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

The first leg of the tie will be played in Macedonia on July 2, with the return at Pittodrie a week later, on July 9.

The Dons could have faced relatively short trips to Northern Ireland or Wales but will instead now take on a 2,127 trip to Macedonia.

Getting to the game doesn’t look particularly easy for Dons fans who will most likely need to get three flights there and back or drive for 34 hours.

Should the Dons progress through the first round of qualifiers, they will then face HNK Rijeka of Croatia.

One other Scottish club was involved in the draw for the first round of qualifiers, with St Johnstone drawn to face Alashkert of Armenia.

The draw was made this afternoon at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
