Aberdeen midfielder Barry Robson is confident manager Derek McInnes will leave no stone unturned to ensure his team is ready for the Europa League qualifying campaign in Macedonia.

The Dons will travel to Skopje next week to face KF Shkendjia in the first qualifying round first leg and Robson is sure every player will have extensive knowledge of their opponents.

He said: “The manager will have every angle covered. The goalkeepers will get DVDs and some players will be taken in and briefed on certain opponents, that is what every good manager does.

“We will know everything we need to know.”

McInnes’ diligence is exemplary with video analysis, sports science and extensive scouting work utilised on a daily basis.

The manager has already been hard at work in identifying any potential weakness in the opposition.

Robson added: “As soon as the draw came out the manager was straight on it. He would have been checking everything, probably up to the hotels, because he is very thorough.

“There was one day this week where he was in video analysis all day. He will have seen every single thing he needs to about the Macedonian team.”

He will celebrate his 37th birthday in five months but Robson’s desire to be part of the club’s European adventure remains every bit as strong and he hopes the experience of last year’s campaign – with trips to Latvia, Holland and Spain – will ensure the squad is better prepared for their latest challenge.

He said: “Last season will help a lot. It was a new thing to a lot of players but this time we all know what it is about. It is enjoyable and when you get older and it is taken away from you it is something any player would miss.

“I am 36 going on 37 and I am still hungry. This is another European adventure and is where Aberdeen want to be.

“We only got three weeks off but I want to play in the Europa League because it is a great competition.”

Aberdeen have unveiled their new away kit for the new season. The black, white and gold strip is on sale now from the club shop.

The Dons will take both their red home kit and their new away strip to Macedonia next week where the match official will decide which strips the respective teams will wear.
