Aberdeen have agreed a deal to sign Scotland international Shaun Maloney, according to reports.
The 34-year-old is expected to sign a one-year deal at Pittodrie, subject to a medical.
Maloney had been expected to sign a new contract with English Championship side Hull City, with the Tigers likely able to offer significantly higher wages.
However, the former Celtic man made just 14 appearances for the club last season and the lure of signing for his hometown club may have just proved decisive.
As things stand, Maloney would be available for the Dons’ Europa League second round qualifier on July 13.
The tricky midfielder has previously enjoyed two successful spells in Scotland, both with current league champions Celtic.
Maloney’s arrival comes following the departure of Jonny Hayes, Ryan Jack, Naill McGinn and Ash Taylor from the first-team squad.
He will link up with new arrivals Ryan Christie, Greg Stewart and Greg Tansey for the season ahead as Derek McInnes’ continues his Dons revolution.
McInnes has been rebuilding his squad after turning down a move to recently relegated Sunderland.
