Calvin Ramsay has been linked with Liverpool

Liverpool have become the latest club to be linked with Aberdeen right back Calvin Ramsay.

The defender has reportedly been identified as a potential understudy for first choice right back Trent Alexander-Arnold following glowing reports from scouts.

The Reds are understood to be considering selling current understudy Neco Williams, who has been on loan at Fulham.

The Cottagers keen to make the Wales international defender’s spell at Craven Cottage permanent in the summer.

Ramsay has been the subject of interest from Italy already this season with Bologna reportedly failing in a bid of almost £5million for the 18 year-old right back who is in his first full campaign at Pittodrie.

Strong interest in Aberdeen’s emerging teenager

Several English Premier League clubs, including Leeds United, have also been scouting Aberdeen’s teenage defender who has been one of the bright lights in a disappointing season for the Dons.

Ramsay, who made his first team debut in March 2021, has had to deal with transfer speculation about him all season but in a recent interview he insisted he will not let it affect him.

He said: “It’s all been good because growing up it’s all you want to do — play first-team football, then hopefully get a big move one day in the future.

“It’s all about learning and you’ve got to keep calm. You can’t let it get to your head.

“If you do you can end up thinking you’re better than you are and not playing how you can.

“At one stage it seemed like there was something on Twitter or in the papers almost every day.

“I tried not to get caught up in it because that’s the worst thing you can do.

“It’s good hearing all that stuff, but I’ve just got to produce on the pitch, then everything else will play itself out.”
