Caley Jags’ injury absentees unlikely to return for Accies game

Gary Warren is targeting seventh place.

Caley Thistle manager John Hughes does not expect his squad injury crisis to ease in time for today’s game against Hamilton.

Inverness were without seven players for last weekend’s 4-2 defeat by Celtic at Parkhead, with Richie Foran, Gary Warren, Dean Brill, Josh Meekings, James Vincent, Aaron Doran and Jordan Roberts sidelined.

Hughes says hopes of any of the absentees returning for today’s visit of the Lanarkshire side are slim.

Hughes said: “One or two have trained but I’m not going to get my hopes too high they’ll make the game on Saturday.

“Even if they were to, they would be in and about the bench.”

Hughes has warned his side Accies will have a spring in their step when they make the trip to Caledonian Stadium.

Martin Canning’s men were without a win so far this season until last weekend’s emphatic 4-0 home victory against Dundee United got their campaign going.

Inverness are yet to win this season after six competitive outings, and Hughes says his side will need a top performance to end that wait today.

Hughes added: “I’m confident we can go and do it this weekend.

“We’re going to have to be at it to pick up the victory. It’s always a tough game against Hamilton, they’ve got some nice players. They’ll be coming here full of confidence, as they got a fantastic result last week against Dundee United.

“It’s going to be a really difficult match.

“Martin Canning will be wanting to put his own stamp on the team this year and they’ve brought in four or five new players. It’s going to be a really difficult match.”
