Scotland prop Alasdair Dickinson says he and his team mates were sure they could beat New Zealand but, despite the defeat against the number one team in the world, they will take their new found confidence into this Saturday’s match with Tonga.
The Edinburgh star said the players are enjoying the new style of play that has brought them a five-try win over Argentina and the narrow defeat to New Zealand this month but he is well aware of the task that the team now face against the ever improving Tonga side.
This weekend’s Tonga clash will be the first ever major international Test to be played on a synthetic pitch and Dickinson and his team are hoping it will also prove to be the latest proof of how far Scotland have come under coach Vern Cotter.
