YouTube personality Joe Sugg said he was not surprised by the reaction when he was announced for Strictly, because he knows people do not have a clue who he is.
The vlogger – the younger brother of beauty blogger Zoella – has millions of younger followers on YouTube but many older viewers were left scratching their heads when he was added to the line-up.
Speaking at the launch of the 2018 series, he said: “I kind of expected the majority of people not to have a clue who I am, which is fine.
“Hopefully when it starts they will get to know me and think I’m all right.”
Sugg said his moves “aren’t great” at the moment, adding: “I’m not going to lie, I’ve got a lot of work to do.
“But the good thing is I really want to throw myself fully at this and give it a good old go.
“It would be so nice to learn to dance.
“All my mates are getting married at the moment and I’m always there and they have the first dance and it would be so nice to just waltz on to the dancefloor, grab a girl, start dancing.”
