Piers Morgan said he had a “sore head” after his Christmas party – for which he spent more than £4,000 on champagne.

Holly Willoughby, Good Morning Britain co-presenter Susanna Reid and fellow host Kate Garraway were among the guests.

Katherine Jenkins, Georgia Toffolo and couples Christine and Frank Lampard and Sheridan Smith and fiance Jamie Horn also attended the party in Kensington, west London.

Later Morgan shared the receipt for the night, which included a £4,200 bill for 60 bottles of Bollinger.

He joked to fellow guest Kevin Pietersen: “I asked them to serve only YOU Prosecco, the rest of us had Bollinger…”

Some Twitter followers criticised Morgan for his big drinks bill.

Comments included “Wow, man of the people eh” and “54-years-old and uploading bar receipts…#Cringe”.

Another added: “I had my works night out last week. Tenner in the kitty and that lasted all night. This is obscene.”

Reid posted a snap of herself with Morgan, writing: “Last time you’ll see us together this decade.”

And Morgan quipped of his co-presenter, who has given up alcohol: “I got The Grinch partying again.”

Willoughby wore a jumper emblazoned with the message “I’m your holiday treat” at the bash.

Garraway was at the party after missing her return to Good Morning Britain following her stint in the jungle.

The presenter was due back on the early morning ITV show on Thursday following her appearance on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

But Ranvir Singh had to step in for her at the last minute, joining Ben Shephard.

Garraway told her Instagram followers she hoped she would not get “fired” for the “disaster”.
