Very different royal bride Meghan Markle is full package – Diana biographer

Meghan Markle is a “very different kind” of royal bride who has brought millions of followers to the royal family, a biographer of Diana, Princess of Wales has said.

Andrew Morton said the American star is joining the Windsors fully formed, with her own successful career.

In his new book, Meghan – A Hollywood Princess, published on Thursday, Morton charts Ms Markle’s rise to stardom.

“She’s a very different kind of bride. She’s coming to the royal family fully formed, with a successful career, with successful work as a blogger, Instagram-er, social media and also of course her humanitarian work with World Vision Canada and the United Nations,” he told the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire show.

“She’s the full package… she’s brought these millions of followers as a dowry to the royal family.”

Prince Harry’s mother Diana secretly collaborated with Morton on his controversial book Diana: Her True Story, which revealed the princess’s inner turmoil, in 1992.

Morton hailed Ms Markle’s activism, which began at an early age, suggesting: “Her royal crest is going to be Make The Change, because that’s always been her motto.”

He also claimed that former friends of Ms Markle had experienced what he called the “Meghan chill”.

“It’s the sense that when you’re out, you’re out,” the writer said.

“She’s had a life where she’s been very mobile. She’s moved from Los Angeles to Toronto, and not all of her friends have stayed with her, and those who’ve dropped by the wayside have felt what they call the ‘Meghan chill’.”

Harry and Ms Markle, who became engaged after a whirlwind 16-month romance, will wed in a high-profile, televised ceremony in just over a month’s time at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on May 19.
