Brian Harvey has released footage appearing to show his own arrest last month.

In the video the former East 17 singer is seen handcuffed and surrounded by police as he explains he has been arrested for “malicious communication”.

Harvey says to a friend “they’ve nicked me, mate”, and tells officers that the handcuffs are “cutting to the bone”.

The video, titled “Me Arrested”, was posted on the star’s YouTube channel and is understood to show a police callout on March 21.

Harvey is seen in the video speaking to a friend off-camera who appears to be filming.

He says: “They’ve nicked me, mate. Malicious communication.”

He adds to police: “These cuffs, man, they’re tight. It’s that top one, man. It’s cutting on the bone.”

Police were called to the home of the former boyband singer following reports of a man threatening self-harm.

Harvey, 44, was arrested on suspicion of malicious communication after police performed a welfare check, and he was later released under investigation.

The singer shot to fame in the 1990s with East 17, later renamed E-17.

The boyband sold millions of records and scored several top 10 hits, including 1994 Christmas number one Stay Another Day.

In 2005 Harvey was left with severe injuries following an accident in which he ran over himself in a car.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said in March: “At approximately 18:09hrs on Thursday 21 March, police were alerted to man threatening self harm.

“Officers subsequently attended an address in Walthamstow to complete a welfare check. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of malicious communications.

“Following a physical assessment at hospital, the man was taken into police custody. He did not suffer any injuries. The man has now been released under investigation.”

Harvey has been contacted for comment.
