“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts” – Winston S Churchill

For all of us in business, success is the ultimate prize but failure is often an inevitable part of the learning process. Despite its negative connotations, however, I believe that failure is intrinsically important in providing the building blocks from which a business can grow meaningfully, using lessons learned and strength gained.

Locally, we are fortunate to be surrounded by an increasingly diverse business landscape which is abundant in organisations who have inspiring stories to tell. Indeed, at a time when UK growth is slowing, many flourishing companies here in the North East are proving that it is still possible to grow a business.

Recent economic challenges have been tough for many but they have transformed the corporate landscape thanks to the emergence of many innovative and creative start-up businesses. It is for this reason that we have joined forces with Prospect 13 at the International School Aberdeen (ISA) to create a brand-new event celebrating local entrepreneurs and business success.

The Granite Growth Summit will be held on Thursday June 27 at the ISA and will bring together representatives of the North East business community including top performing organisations, brands and industry bodies to discuss the challenges encountered and triumphs enjoyed by companies during their growth journeys.

The cross-sector gathering will include motivating speakers from a range of organisations including International School Aberdeen, Blaze Manufacturing, Caber Coffee, DeepMiner, Lindsay & Lang, Mattioli Woods, Solab, Thorpe Molloy and Traveleads. The event will be chaired by TV presenter and broadcaster, David Tanner.

Although new to the mix, the event builds on Granite PR’s long-standing reputation of providing quality events which facilitate networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities for participants. The inaugural Granite Growth Summit will take that theory to a new place, a new audience and add a new dimension to our events calendar.

The one-day exhibition and conference will also offer business insights and inspire fledgling organisations as well as demonstrating that today’s businesses must aim high with their growth strategies. A concurrent exhibition, interactive workshops and opportunities to network and engage will complement the conference to provide a day which will encourage growth through different tools.

The Granite Growth Summit is supported by International School Aberdeen, Blaze Manufacturing, Caber Coffee, DeepMiner, Elevator and Business Gateway, Federation of Small Businesses, Lindsay & Lang, Mattioli Woods, OGV Energy, Solab, Thorpe Molloy, Traveleads.
