Dairy farmers supplying Arla will have their milk price increased next week.
The European farmers’ co-operative will increase its standard litre price by 1.49p to 23.14p a litre on November 1.
The dairy, which produces Lurpak, Anchor and Cravendale, said the continued decline in milk production had strengthened dairy markets.
Farmer board director, Jonathan Ovens, said: “This is the third consecutive month that Arla has increased its milk price, resulting in an additional 4.09p a litre since September 1. While the price is still not where it should be to be sustainable, it is a further positive move for our farmer owners.”
Arla’s milk price announcement follows a similar move by First Milk.
The Glasgow-headquartered farmers’ co-operative is increasing both its A and B prices on November 1.
The B price will increase by 5p to 25p a litre, while a minimum 1p a litre increase will be applied to the A price on all non-aligned pools.
