Northern Star Business Awards 2018.

The entry deadline for “Oscars” championing the best of north-east business is looming and companies of all kinds are being urged to get involved.

Potential winners in the 2019 Northern Star Business Awards have less than a fortnight to make sure they are in with a chance of glory. Entries must be submitted no later than 5pm on Wednesday May 1.

Now in their 16th year, the awards recognise companies for exceptional accomplishments across a range of fields, from energy to innovation, and customer service to people development.

Organised by Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) and held in association with The Press and Journal, the free-to-enter competition highlights the diversity and success of organisations operating in a wide range of sectors in the region.

This year’s event has 12 categories: going global, marketing magic, inspiration from innovation, inspiring futures, staff matter, customer first, making the difference, family business, rising star, student placement, eco hero and business of the year.

AGCC head of membership Seona Shand said: “The Aberdeen city region continues to punch well above its weight in terms of economic contribution to the rest of Scotland and the UK.

“These awards are about providing a platform to recognise the people and the companies behind this region’s continued success.

“Previous winners have told us they have experienced a growth in sales and revenue which they put down to increased exposure and business opportunities following their success.”

The competition is not just for chamber members – all organisations are welcome to put themselves in the frame for a gong and potentially major spin-off benefits.

Ms Shand added: “We encourage all businesses in Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire to get involved.

“Companies of all sizes, from all sectors and across the length and breadth of this fantastic region are renowned for their innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.

“The Northern Star Business Awards provide a great stage to showcase and celebrate this.”

Last year, more than 40 finalists joined around 600 guests to celebrate excellence and entrepreneurship during the black-tie awards dinner.

This year’s award ceremony will take place at The Events Complex Aberdeen (TECA) on Thursday September 26.
