The Marischal Square development in Aberdeen was a “key contributor” to a 9% surge in 2017 revenue at Morgan Sindall, the construction group said yesterday.
Morgan Sindall subsidiary Muse Developments completed the £107million office and retail development late last year.
The group highlighted the project along with residential developments in England as drivers for a 12% year-on-year increase in revenue, to £175million, at its urban regeneration arm.
Group revenue jumped to £2.79billion last year, from £2.56billion in 2015, while adjusted pre-tax profits rocketed by 46% to £66.1million.
Stephen Turner, regional director for Scotland at Muse, said: “2017 was another strong year of working closely with partners to deliver major regeneration schemes across the UK, creating vibrant and sustainable new places.
“Construction is now complete at our Marischal Square scheme in Aberdeen, with the first of the ground-floor occupiers and the hotel already open and trading well, and four more opening shortly. The scheme has transformed an important party of the city centre and is already having a positive effect on the surrounding area.”
