The Land Rover dealership in Elgin has been snapped up by John Clark Motor Group for an undisclosed sum.

The Aberdeen-based car retailer has taken over the Frank Ogg dealership and has already rebranded it as Pentland Land Rover Elgin, part of the firm’s existing chain of Jaguar Land Rover shops in Edinburgh, Perth and Cupar.

The outlet’s 18 employees join John Clark’s legion of 1,110 who work for the firm’s portfolio of brands including Audi, BMW, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercials, Nissan, BMW Motorrad and Mini.

The dealership, previously owned by Frank Ogg himself, has been in its location at Moycroft since 1998.

The company waqs initially founded over 80 years ago in Aberlour. The Frank Ogg & Son garage in Aberlour is separate from the salesroom in Elgin and not part of the sale.

John Clark, chairman and managing director, said: “This acquisition represents another step in our growth strategy and sees us grow our relationship further with the Land Rover franchise in an area of Scotland that has long enjoyed a relationship with this fantastic brand.

“As a family owned and run business our people are our most valuable asset in establishing a brand that our customers can trust. We are dedicated to investing in our people’s development and we look forward to working with the team at Elgin who will experience this commitment almost immediately through our induction and in-dealer training programme.

“A key focus for the business in these early days will be to establish best practice to deliver the highest levels of customer service and our training courses will be structured to help develop these skills and build and improve their customer relationships”.

John Clark Motor Group’s yesterday said it expects 2014 to be its fifth consecutive record year with turnover increasing 28% from the previous financial year to a pre audited estimate of £604million. In terms of new and used vehicles, the group achieved 23,492 units in 2014, compared with 20,124 in 2013.

Mr Clark added: “This is another exciting period for the business and I speak on behalf of my colleagues when I say we will work hard to ensure our new colleagues and customers quickly feel part of the John Clark Motor Group family.”
