Loving Loopallu 2015

Reverend & The Makers
Reverend & The Makers

Over the past decade, despite its remote location, size and time of year, the fantastic Loopallu music festival has brought the likes of Paolo Nutini, Mumford & Sons, Franz Ferdinand, Jake Bugg, The Undertones, Alabama 3, The Buzzcocks, Newton Faulkner and Twin Atlantic to the Highlands.

This year’s festival, which takes place in the tiny west-coast fishing village of Ullapool on Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, will be no different, with household names rubbing shoulders with the stars of the future.

The festival, which doubles the population of the normally quiet village for the weekend, has sold out, but those lucky enough to have tickets can look forward to the usual eclectic line-up of acts appearing at the festival big top and the numerous fringe events which take place after hours in the local pubs.

Among those appearing at the festival are Sheffield’s finest Reverend and The Makers, who will keep the party stoked tomorrow night, while no Loopallu would be complete without the sound of the pipes and drums of Ullapool Pipe Band echoing around Loch Broom. Making a very welcome return are The Temperance Movement, who will make their headline debut. Lead singer Phil Campbell said: “Ullapool is majestic. Scotland and Ullapool people are Kings and Queens. The farther north you go, the warmer the welcome. Top of the bill is the top of the country.”

Also appearing are The Damned, The Supernaturals, Khartoum Heroes, Skerryvore, Frances, Have Mercy Las Vegas, Davy & The Host Beast, Torridon, Tweed, Cab Collective, The New Madrids, Bite Night, Tom Figgins, Into the Ark, Vic Galloway and numerous up and coming acts.

The festival will be welcoming the return of the Literally Literary tent in association with Ullapool Book Festival. All this, as well as the usual warm Ullapool welcome.
