Celtic’s Champions League Group H campaign got up and running at the third time of asking after their 2-1 win against Dutch club Ajax at Parkhead.
A rather tame first 45 minutes ended in drama when James Forrest scored from the spot with two minutes remaining after Ajax defender Stefano Denswil had clattered Hoops attacker Anthony Stokes.
Midfielder Beram Kayal scored a second in the 54th minute with a deflected shot to give the home side a cushion.
In the 88th minute Hoops substitute Nir Biton, who replaced Mikael Lustig, was shown a straight red card by referee Ivan Bebek for his challenge on Thulani Serero before Ajax substitute Lasse Schone grabbed an injury-time consolation with a long range shot.
