Independence booklet for every household

A booklet setting out the case for Scottish independence is to be sent to every household in the country.

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the document would outline the opportunities a “yes” vote on September 18 would bring people, families and communities.

“We want people to be armed with the facts before they vote, which is why we are stepping up our public information campaign in the coming weeks,” she added.

“This will match the efforts of the UK Government in every way.

“The Tory-led Westminster government has been using public funds to push their anti-independence message, and it is important that is directly countered.

“September 18 is the opportunity of a lifetime, and it is vital people know all the facts and the size of the prize that awaits after a ‘yes’ vote.”

The SNP Government has so far spent about £800,000 in public money meeting the demand for copies of its white paper, Scotland’s Future.

It said the costs of the new information campaign, which includes online adverts, will be made available in due course.

Householders across Scotland have already started to receive a glossy booklet setting out the positive case for Scotland remaining part of the UK.

The 16-page document booklet, which cost the public purse £720,000, focuses on subjects like pensions, currency, tax, mortgages, public institutions and energy.
