Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says he has already made plenty of progress on identifying possible transfer targets for the next season.
The Dons can secure European qualification this weekend with a victory against champions Celtic – a feat they have already achieved twice in 2014. McInnes is holding off on discussing new deals with several key first-team players whose current deals expire at the end of the current campaign.
Russell Anderson, midfielders Barry Robson and Nicky Low, forward Scott Vernon and on-loan Brentford defender Shay Logan will all be out of contract in the summer but McInnes is waiting until Euro football has been secured before opening talks.
However, the Dons manager says work is going on in the background to identify possible targets to enhance the squad next season and ensure the momentum gained from this season’s successful campaign continues. McInnes said: “You are always working and planning – that doesn’t stop.”
The Dons have been linked with a move for Partick Thistle defender Aaron Taylor-Sinclair.
