A farming museum has launched a new Doric trail to help promote a love of the local language.
The Doric in a Bottle game will teach visitors new phrases and words during their trips to Aden Country Park.
Eight plastic bottles will be placed around the museum with each one containing a different letter.
The trail will lead visitors to different rooms in the building.
When all the letters have been traced, they will spell out a well-known north-east phrase.
The idea for the trail came from museum supervisor Pam Ross, who wanted to promote Doric to locals and visitors from further afield.
She said: “The inspiration for it came from the Police song Message in a Bottle.
“We are trying to foster a love of the local language and culture and also protect the natural environment as well.
“It is to connect people with their Doric routes and to help visitors to feel passionate about the local culture.”
Mrs Ross said they used old promotional materials found at the museum to make the trail.
She said: “We have giant letters that were made from recycled leaflets.
“The idea is for visitors to go round the museum with a mini white board and record the number on the bottle and the letter inside.
“When they have all eight they can work out a Doric expression that they can tell us what it is at the end of their visit.
“If anyone has a favourite Doric expression they can come to us and we will try to use it on the trail.”
Carla Angus, performance and events development co-ordinator at Aberdeenshire Council, said there had been several trails introduced at the farming museum in Aberdeenshire over the years.
She said: “This year it was the staff that came up with the idea.
“The Doric aspect is very important to the area.”
Doric in a Bottle runs until October, when the tourism season comes to an end.
