A man hurled a bottle of Prosecco through a window during a heated argument with his partner, causing £700 worth of damage to her home.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard Alan Munro was drunk when he arrived at Claire Murray’s house on Richmond Terrace in Rhynie on the morning of Christmas Eve last year.
The 37-year-old yesterday admitted causing her “fear and alarm” by smashing the window in front of her and their two children.
Fiscal Jamie Dunbar said: “The couple’s children, aged four and seven months, were there when the complainer asked Munro to leave.
“An argument ensued and the accused followed her into the kitchen, then grabbed a bottle of Prosecco and smashed it through the window into the garden.
“When the complainer herself attempted to leave, the accused picked up a ceramic plant pot and threw it across the living room, smashing a large mirror above the fireplace.
“Ms Murray then tried phoning her mother, but Munro took it from her and broke it, while shouting incoherently.
“As Ms Murray left the home with their daughters, Munro put his hand over her mouth to stop her from screaming, but she made off.”
The court heard that a police report on the incident estimated the cost of the damage to be £700.
Defence agent Iain Hingston confirmed the relationship was now over but said his client continued to enjoy contact with his children.
Munro, who now lives in Mayo Abbey in the Republic of Ireland, was ordered to pay Aberdeenshire Council £116 for the window and Ms Murray £349 for her broken phone.
Sheriff Philip Mann also ordered he remain under social work supervision for the next year.
