Eastenders actor Shane Richie will take to the stage in Aberdeen next year, reprising his role in the touring production of a hit West End musical.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie tells the story of 16-year-old Jamie New, who is bullied after telling classmates he wants to be a drag queen.
The show is based on a BBC Three documentary from 2011 and features music and songs from The Feeling lead singer Dan Gillespie Sells.
Next year the production will move from the West End to tour the country, with performances at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen from April 28 to May 2.
Topping the bill is actor Shane Richie, who is best known for playing Alfie Moon in Eastenders.
He will be joining the touring company to continue his role as Hugo in the musical.
He said:” I had such a fantastic time in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the West End, so when I was offered the chance to be involved in the touring production I jumped at the opportunity to get back into those heels.
“I believe this show has such an important message for younger and older generations I’m excited to be taking it to a larger audience around the UK.”
