BP hopes to help keep frontline workers safe with a donation of PPE to NHS Grampian.

Healthcare staff up and down the country have faced an unprecedented global health crisis whilst also dealing with a nationwide shortage of essential protective supplies.

A delivery of more than 2000 items of personal protective equipment is hoped to protect healthcare workers against the world’s Coronavirus pandemic, as they care for the most vulnerable.

The firm’s donation of 500 face visors, 500 3M masks and 1,000 disposable three-ply masks has been delivered to NHS Grampian’s central stores facility.

From there, they will then be distributed to healthcare facilities that require them.

Vince Shields from NHS Grampian said: “We are really grateful to BP for their donation. It is a useful supplement to the core supplies provided nationally and it allows us to quickly respond to any changes in demand.”

This bid to tackle PPE shortages is one of many in the UK, groups and individuals across the north and north-east have also banded together to help keep the NHS supplied.

Giles Mackey, bp’s HSE manager said: “bp is pleased to be able to play a small part in helping to maintain NHS Grampian’s PPE stocks during this highly-challenging time.

“We owe it to our frontline workers to make sure they have what they need to protect the public while also protecting themselves.”
