The sacked boss of a business organisation set up to promote Aberdeen will take her former employer to a tribunal next month.

Susan Bree, who was the chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, was fired after apparently giving her husband Alan, n operations manager, a pay rise of several thousand pounds without the approval of the board of directors.

Other members of staff were also believed to have benefited from pay increases.

Mrs Bree vowed to fight her dismissal following the termination of her contract in August last year.

An employment tribunal hearing has now been set from March 2-4 at Atholl House in Aberdeen.

Mrs Bree claims the business body is guilty of breach of contract, unfair dismissal and failure to pay for unauthorised deductions to her salary.

Hundreds of local companies are signed up to Aberdeen Inspired and pay a levy to cover the cost of street improvements and other projects around the city.

Aberdeen City Council also contributes as it owns a number of business properties in the city-centre.

Council leader Jenny Laing sits on the board, along with John Lewis managing director Robert Holder, Workshop UK managing director Allan Henderson and the general manager of the Bon Accord and St Nicholas shopping centres, Craig Stevenson.

Aberdeen Labour councillor for Tillydrone, Seaton and Old Aberdeen, Ross Grant, is also employed by the body as a project manager and city “ambassador”.

Last night he said it would be “inappropriate to comment” on the tribunal.

Aberdeen Inspired also declined to comment and Mrs Bree could not be reached.

Already this year, Aberdeen Inspired has commissioned a graffiti artist to design a new artwork between the station and the Trinity Centre.

Last year projects included the installation of a network of sensors to capture the movement of pedestrians and a £28,000 investment in floral displays in the city.
