Inverbervie Scout group has home once again thanks to handymen

The Scout Hall in Inverbervie has been renovated
The Scout Hall in Inverbervie has been renovated

An Aberdeenshire scout troop has a roof over its head again after locals raised £40,000 for refurbishments.

The grand opening of the Church Street Hall – home to the 1st Inverbervie Scout Group – featured a series of games and fundraising activities.

More than 60 people turned up for the grand opening.

Local builder Geordie Bisset – who helped restore the building – cut the ribbon and unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion.

Mr Bisset’s building firm carried out the building, joinery, slating, painting, taping, flooring and fitting work to the hall free of charge.

Another local Brian Warrender did the plumbing and heating works and Daniel Cabrelli, the electrical installation.

Several local firms also donated materials for the refurbishment.

Scout leader Margaret Gray said: “The hall is totally transformed, and it’s all thanks to Geordie Bisset and his business associates. They have given us the hall complete and fit for purpose.

“We are so grateful to various local tradesmen here in Inverbervie who have gifted us goods, cash or time. We feel so fortunate and so grateful to so many people.”

The Inverbervie scout group was formed in 1933 after Lord Arbuthnott donated the building.
