The north-east’s leading brass band have celebrated the opening of their brand new hall.

The Bon-Accord Silver Band have been playing across the north-east for 53 years in various rented rehearsal spaces, but now it has a permanent home at Faulds Row in Kincorth.

After years of having to waste time moving their instruments in and out of venues including The Academy shopping centre and St Margaret’s Church at Gallowgate, the band will now be able to maximise their rehearsal time.

Craig Beattie, the band’s manager, said: “As long as the band has been established the dream has always been to have a home for us, so we don’t have to bother with unpacking and packing up our dozens of instruments.

“So it’s been my mission for about five years as the band’s manager, so it’s great to have a new place for us at last. The new hall also has great acoustics for us to practice with, it’s perfect.”

The band are due to perform in the Northern Counties Open Contest this weekend in Kinross. For more information on the band visit www.bonaccordband.org.uk.
