Aberdeen’s night time skyline was transformed into a kaleidoscope of colour last night by the city’s firework display.
Thousands of people attended the display at Aberdeen beach last night, which kicks off Aberdeen Winter Festival.
The crowd braved the chilly conditions to watch a twenty-minute display, which was set to a variety of music genres including pop, rock and classical.
Gasps were heard across the Beach Boulevard area as a range of colours shot into the sky, with children particularly involving the fireworks which created a smiley face and a cat’s face.
The section of the display set to Queen’s hit song We Are The Champions proved to be a particular crowd pleaser, with more than a few spectators singing along as arcs of golden light flew up from the esplanade.
Spectator Holly Knox, 22, said: “The fireworks were fantastic and the music was spot on.”
The fireworks began at 7.30pm, but the fun at the beach had started an hour earlier with Inspire’s fifth annual firewalk. A team of sixty braved the hot coals as a crowd of onlookers gathered.
Last night was also a busy night for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with a number of call outs across the city, including putting out a number of bonfires in the Tullos area.
