Police say they are “keeping an open mind” that a string of motorcycle thefts in the Deeside area may all be linked.

Thieves broke into a rural Kincardine O’ Neil property and stole three motorcycles worth more than £10,000 at around 3pm yesterday.

The vehicles were two Husqvamas – one white and the other white and yellow – and an orange KTM motorcycle.

Officers believe a blue Volvo S60 was used during the theft, which comes just days after a KTM 350 was taken from Banchory’s Kirkton Body Repairs.

The vehicle belonged to the business’ owner, Phillip Greig, and was worth between £7,000 and £8,000.

It was taken between 8.30pm on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

Police officers are also investigating the thefts of power tools worth hundreds of pounds which were taken from four garages in the Silverbank Gardens area of Banchory during the same timescale.

Sergeant Gordon Forsyth said: “It is believed that a blue Volvo S60 was used in the commission of this crime and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen it in the area to contact us.

“The same vehicle was later recovered in the Northfield area of Aberdeen. We also ask that anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious get in touch. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.”
