An Aberdeen man has been told he could be jailed after he was caught with hundreds of indecent images of children.

Aleksey Tocher stored the sick pictures on a series of devices which were stashed in his Bridge of Don home.

Between February 26 and November 21 last year, he downloaded more than 400 from the internet and chat websites.

This included 137 described as category A – the most graphic – while 116 were category B and 148 category C.

On November 30 Tocher admitted that he had been viewing the images and told police he “had a problem”.

Officers then searched his house taking his personal mobile phone, two other mobiles and an SD memory card to check if any had indecent pictures stored on then.

They also found a USB stick wrapped in kitchen roll beside the kitchen sink, later hearing that Tocher had tried to destroy its contents by running it under the tap.

The 23-year-old, of Grandholm Court, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday where he was warned he could be facing a jail sentence.

Sheriff Graeme Napier said: “You recognise that these are serious offences.

“A custodial sentence is one that has to be in contemplation.”

He will be sentenced next month.
