A woman has been jailed after chasing a complete stranger down an Aberdeen street before viciously attacking him.

Stefanie Rodriguez, 32, and another female began running after the man and demanding money from him just before 10pm on April 17.

Together the women dragged him to the ground in the Adelphi and repeatedly punched him to the face and body.

They rifled through his pockets but ended up leaving empty-handed after repeatedly kicking him to the body, leaving him with a black eye and cut hand.

Fiscal depute Dylan Middleton told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “The accused shouted at the complainer, demanding that he give her money.

“She grabbed him on the body and dragged him to the ground.

“The accused and the other female repeatedly punched the complainer on his face and body.

Victim was overpowered

“The complainer attempted to defend himself but was overpowered by them.

“The accused and the other female rifled through the complainer’s jacket pockets and repeatedly kicked him on the body.”

The women then left and their victim managed to walk to a friend’s house nearby and contact the police.

Rodriguez was identified from CCTV and arrested the next day.

In a separate incident at 9.55pm on March 5 last year at Byron Square in Aberdeen, Rodriguez assaulted and racially abused a taxi driver.

She climbed into the taxi and opened a can of beer, before the driver asked her not to eat or drink in the car and to wear a facemask.

Rodriguez refused, stating that she had asthma and adding that she “would not be paying him for the fare as she had paid a taxi driver before him”.

She was asked to leave and, despite initially refusing, did eventually get out of the car.

When the driver also got out to close the passenger door which she’d left open, he noticed her beer can had fallen over in the taxi and tried to remove it.

As he did this, Rodriguez spat in his face.

DNA from saliva analysed

When advised that he would call the police, Rodriguez called the man a “P***” and headbutted him, making contact with his nose before spitting in his face a second time.

The driver pushed her and got back into his car.

Rodriguez was heard to shout “f*** off back to your own country”.

Saliva later obtained from the taxi driver’s jacket was analysed and matched DNA from Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, described as a prisoner of HMP Grampian in court papers, but who resides at Viking Place, Portlethen, when at liberty, pled guilty to three charges.

She admitted assault, acting in a racially aggravated manner and assault to injury with intent to rob.

‘Disgusted and embarrassed’

Defence agent Neil McRobert said his client’s response to a difficult situation in her life had been to “increase her drug and alcohol misuse”.

He said: “She was significantly under the influence of substances at the time of both offences.

“She is disgusted and embarrassed by her conduct. Quite rightly, she should be disgusted and embarrassed about the way she has behaved.”

Sheriff Ian Wallace imposed a 260-day jail sentence, back-dated to April 19 when she was remanded.

And he also imposed 24 months of supervision with a conduct requirement to engage with alcohol and substance misuse services, 100 hours of unpaid work and a 100-day curfew to begin on her release.
