A Moray woman faces the prospect of prison after dousing her home in white spirit and threatening to “blow it up”.

Jennifer Munro appeared in the dock at Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday charged with a litany of offences.

Fiscal Kevin Corrins said Munro’s troubles began on May 1 last year, when police were called to her home at 10 St Andrew’s Square in Buckie amid a noisy row with her partner.

After becoming “irate” with officers, the 51-year-old locked her door to prevent them from leaving and had to be taken into custody.

The court heard that as soon as she was released the next day, Munro went to the RS McColl store in Buckie’s St Andrew’s Square and stole a bottle of wine.

On August 19, after drinking a “significant amount” of alcohol, she and Mr Sebastian Sikora returned to 23 Covesea Road in Buckie.

She was again arrested after “flailing her arms” in anger and grazing Mr Sikora on his neck.

Tempers flared between the two once more on December 17, while they were staying at 72 Morriston Road in Elgin.

Mr Corrins said: “During this argument, the accused poured white spirit on Mr Sikora’s jacket and elsewhere within the locus.

“She tried to find a lighter, and threatened to blow up the place.

Mr Corrins said police officers “noticed a strong smell of spirits” when they arrived and saw that the fluid had been doused across the floor.

Munro admitted to charges of obstructing officers, stealing wine from shops in Buckie and Fochabers, “recklessly flailing her arms about” and scratching Mr Sikora, and threatening to set her home on fire.

Her solicitor, Brent Lockie, said the accused was aware that she “faced a very real prospect of custody”.

He said her problems were caused by a dependency on alcohol.

Sheriff Chris Dickson agreed to defer sentence on Munro for two months to allow her to prove she could comply with a supervision order.

He told her: “If you engage with addiction services, then it’s likely you will be sentenced to community service.

“If you don’t, you will face a custodial sentence.”
